Zeki Çeler: Koop-Süt Struggles Under Millions of TL Debt Interest

Zeki Çeler, the General Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (TDP), spoke about Koop-Süt based on recent information they received, stating that political interventions into the institution's autonomous structure are being intensified, with the aim of completely eradicating it.

ÇELER: WHAT IS HAPPENING IN KOOP-SÜT?

In a written statement, Çeler mentioned that interesting developments have been occurring recently regarding Koop-Süt, one of the indigenous institutions of the Turkish Cypriot community, and stated that the institution has been brought to the brink of bankruptcy.

"What is happening in Koop-Süt?" asked Çeler, noting that even in 1974, the Turkish Cypriot community was able to produce and distribute its own milk and dairy products through Koop-Süt, but due to partisanship and incompetence, Koop-Süt is now crushed under millions of TL debt interest.

"THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT A SOCIETY UNABLE TO PRODUCE AND DISTRIBUTE ITS OWN MILK"

Çeler emphasized that any negativity experienced by Koop-Süt would adversely affect the 126 employees and thousands of producers, thus impacting the national economy. He stated that such a valuable institution should not be allowed to become a plaything in the hands of incompetent politicians.

Çeler asserted, "We have always advocated for Koop-Süt to be managed by a politically independent autonomous administration. However, the current mentality in the government is trying to 'take over' everything to use as a bargaining chip when election time comes. They don't even care about bringing a society to the point where it cannot even produce and distribute its own milk because they don't have any concerns. I am addressing this: We are aware of what you are trying to do behind closed doors. In the coming days, we will talk more about this issue."
