Baybars Criticizes Property Management, Alleges Free Distribution of Many Plots
Independent Member of Parliament Ayşegül Baybars emphasized that the issue of property ownership has been fundamentally mismanaged from the outset, highlighting the distribution of numerous plots of land for free.
Speaking on the 'Objektif' program hosted by Erçin Şahmaran on Kıbrıs Postası TV, Baybars criticized the government's handling, accusing it of obstructing access to insured medication.
Baybars indicated that the government would not tender for social housing anymore but would instead allocate to new cooperatives, expressing hope that these cooperatives would not become vehicles for rent-seeking individuals.
"We have fundamentally mismanaged the issue of property ownership, and there have been many plots of land distributed for free," Baybars stated, underscoring that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) is perceived as isolated from the world.
She criticized the real estate sector for being subjected to unplanned developments, leading to various issues including public security concerns. Baybars highlighted the inconsistency in policies that initially encouraged investments but later disrupted investor confidence in chaotic conditions, leaving foreign investors uncertain about their prospects and potentially harming the country
