Arrests Targeting Investors in the TRNC Discussed in High-Level Meeting

The meeting, held under the leadership of the Prime Minister, addressed the legal and economic implications of these arrests, as well as the broader impact on the Turkish Cypriot community.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Environment, and Culture Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Interior Dursun Oğuz, President of the Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association Cafer Gürcafer, along with several investors, legal experts, and bureaucrats.

Participants in the meeting thoroughly examined the ramifications of the arrests carried out by the Greek Cypriot Administration, assessing the potential impact on the Turkish Cypriot people. The discussion also included possible countermeasures that the TRNC could take in response to what was described as actions incompatible with good faith on the part of the Greek Cypriot side.

During his remarks, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel emphasized that these actions by the Greek Cypriot Administration are intended to harm the Turkish Cypriot community, making this issue a top priority for his government. He reiterated that the TRNC will take all necessary steps to protect its rights and interests during this challenging period.
