The Nicosia District Court rejected a lawsuit filed by UBP MP and presidential candidate Hasan Taçoy. According to the decision, members who registered by March 21 will be able to cast their votes at tomorrow's congress.

On July 10, Taçoy filed the lawsuit after UBP Secretary-General Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu did not implement the sealed list he obtained from the Supreme Election Board (YSK).

Both Hasipoğlu and UBP lawyer Ergün Ulunay were present at the hearing.

Taçoy argued that, under Article 6/7 of the party's statute, only those who registered by January 22 should be allowed to vote. UBP countered this by citing Article 19/3, which states that only members registered by March 21 can vote.

Hasipoğlu submitted the YSK sealed lists as evidence.

The parties requested that the court verify their claims through mutual consensus.

In its ruling today, the court found Taçoy's claims unjustified and accepted UBP's defense and counterclaim.

As a result, all 21,000 members registered by March 21 will be able to vote in the congress.
