Tatar Highlights Importance of TDT's Support for TRNC's Just Cause

Tatar mentioned that the Greek Cypriot administration and its allies attempted to prevent TRNC’s participation in the summit but asserted, "Despite all these obstacles, we took our rightful place."

The president underlined the historic importance of their presence at the official summit in Bishkek and noted that TRNC, as an observer member of the TDT since 2022, has much to contribute to the Turkic world. He highlighted TRNC’s potential role in safeguarding rights in the Eastern Mediterranean and contributing to future developments with its strategic airports and ports.

Referring to remarks by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Tatar shared that Erdoğan had emphasized the TDT’s potential to aid TRNC’s growth and global recognition. Tatar reiterated the importance of a resolution in Cyprus based on sovereign equality and equal international status, a message he conveyed to the leaders at the summit.

Tatar also pointed out TRNC’s progress over the past 50 years, noting that three of its universities rank among the top 1,000 globally, and emphasized the country's potential in tourism, agriculture, and services sectors. He called attention to the benefits of strengthening economic ties among Turkic states and affirmed TRNC’s readiness to contribute to these developments.

Concluding his remarks, Tatar expressed gratitude to President Erdoğan, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, and YDP leader and Transport Minister Erhan Arıklı for their support during the visit.
