International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
The PGD highlighted that November 25 was declared an international day by the UN General Assembly in 1999 to raise awareness about violence against women.
The statement also noted:
“Since 2018, the Units for Combating Violence Against Women, initially launched in Nicosia, have expanded nationwide as of 2021. These units respond promptly to reports of violence, providing round-the-clock services through hotlines, including 155 and specific numbers for each district.”
The PGD reaffirmed its commitment to addressing all complaints with diligence, ensuring swift legal action where necessary.
