Akça Represents TRNC at COP29, Delivers Climate Change Message
Latif Akça, Civil Society Communication Coordinator for the Presidency, represented the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) at the COP29 United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Azerbaijan, emphasizing the TRNC's efforts in combating climate change and promoting sustainable development.
Speaking at the "Climate Initiatives" forum in the Green Zone, attended by civil society representatives from member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Akça highlighted the role of youth and civil society in addressing climate challenges.
Akça detailed the TRNC's strategies to combat climate change and global warming, stressing the importance of proper planning in vulnerable regions like the Eastern Mediterranean. He underscored the TRNC’s commitment to environmental protection and leaving a livable planet for future generations.
He also noted that international cooperation through such events strengthens global efforts to develop policies aligned with sustainable solutions. Acknowledging Azerbaijan’s role in hosting the conference, Akça expressed pride in the event’s outcomes.
Aygün Aliyeva, Executive Director of Azerbaijan’s State Support Agency, thanked the TRNC delegation, emphasizing the importance of their participation in the event.
