Speaking on Kıbrıs Postası TV's Sabah Postası program hosted by Gökhan Altıner, Arıklı expressed confidence that his party is becoming a political attraction and will play a decisive role in the next elections.

“YDP Has Become a Political Attraction”

Arıklı asserted that YDP is gaining traction and will be a key player in future elections. He emphasized the need to raise the electoral threshold and open pathways for alliances, with a draft proposal to be shared with coalition partners and the main opposition.

Arıklı also suggested forming an Ad-Hoc committee to revise parliamentary procedures, especially in preparation for the planned relocation to a new parliamentary building.

Budget and Projects

Addressing his ministry's budget of 3.247 billion TL, Arıklı stated that 24 out of 57 proposed projects have been approved. While noting budget cuts in some ministries by 5-10% compared to last year, he predicted challenges ahead in 2025.

On Tosunoğlu’s Resignation and UBP’s Role

Commenting on Hasan Tosunoğlu’s resignation from the DP to continue as an independent MP, Arıklı said Tosunoğlu would continue supporting the government. However, he underlined that the stability of the government depends on UBP, adding that Prime Minister Ünal Üstel is experienced and capable of resolving internal party issues over time.

Kar-İş Strike and Transportation Issues

Arıklı addressed the impending strike by Kar-İş, acknowledging the grievances of its president, Fuat Topaloğlu, but highlighted that fuel prices have fluctuated by only 1 TL since the last adjustment.

On ticket prices, Arıklı warned against exorbitant increases, stating that citizens are already dissatisfied with current fares. He noted that Kar-İş demands an 80% cost-of-living adjustment and promised to reach an agreement, albeit without succumbing to populist measures.

Regarding student transportation, Arıklı flagged a budget of approximately 1.2 billion TL, citing instances of misuse. He emphasized the need for balance, stating, “I won’t spend irresponsibly just to secure political support. We’ll find a middle ground.”
