PM Üstel: "No Early Elections, Focus is on 2025 Targets"

He stressed that 2025 would be a critical year for completing long-awaited projects and launching new initiatives aimed at improving life for the citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel began his address by expressing his happiness at being in Ankara and reaffirmed the strong bonds between the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot peoples. He emphasized the shared history and the concept of "one nation, two states," a principle that has guided the relationship between the Turkish Republic and the TRNC since the latter's establishment.

"Since the establishment of the TRNC, we have always found the Republic of Turkey by our side, in every difficulty and every challenge," Üstel stated. He highlighted the exceptional cooperation between the two governments, noting that relations with Turkey are seen not merely as financial, but as vital for the survival and prosperity of the TRNC.

Touching on the recent progress made during his tenure as Prime Minister, Üstel stated that the government has completed numerous projects and reforms in the last two years. He pointed out that the TRNC has made significant strides in various sectors, including infrastructure, energy, and healthcare. "We are moving forward with determination and courage, and we are achieving success," Üstel remarked.

Looking ahead, Üstel shared that the government would continue to collaborate with Turkey on a range of ongoing projects, particularly those related to the 2025 economic and infrastructural targets. He noted that the year 2025 will be marked by the completion of long-delayed projects and the launch of significant new initiatives in areas such as education, healthcare, transportation, energy, and technological advancements.

"2025 will be a year when many long-awaited projects will come to fruition and new, large-scale projects will begin, impacting the lives of every citizen of the TRNC," he said. Some of the key areas of focus include improving energy security, addressing traffic congestion, enhancing infrastructure in education and healthcare, and advancing technological and communication services for the public.

In a key statement, Üstel underlined that the government currently holds an indisputable majority and has no intention of calling for early elections. "Our goal is not elections in the near future, but to serve the people, complete the projects and reforms we promised, and make the most of the next two years. This period is a critical opportunity for the TRNC and its citizens. The stability we have achieved cannot be sacrificed for unnecessary debates," Üstel emphasized.

The Prime Minister concluded his remarks by expressing his gratitude to Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and his team for their support and hospitality. He also extended his deepest respect to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his unwavering support of the Turkish Cypriot people since the establishment of the government.

"As we continue this fight in unity and solidarity, the gains we have achieved will be further advanced with determination," Üstel affirmed, reiterating his commitment to the TRNC’s progress and prosperity.
