Tensions Persist in Buffer Zone: UN Vehicles Remain in Area
The presence of UN vehicles continues in the Frenaros-Vrysoulles buffer zone following recent tensions between Greek Cypriot farmers and the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). Farmers are still barred from accessing their fields, while police proceed with statements regarding the incident.
According to Fileleftheros, six UN vehicles and 15 peacekeepers remain stationed in the area since last Friday’s altercation. The police have reportedly completed taking statements from UN personnel and are now expected to summon the farmers for their accounts.
The situation underscores ongoing disputes in the buffer zone, with no immediate resolution in sight.
