Police General Directorate: New Year’s Safety Measures in Place
The Police General Directorate (PGM) has announced that it will continue its 24-hour service for public peace and safety in the new year.
In a statement, PGM confirmed that all necessary security and traffic measures have been taken to ensure a safe environment during the New Year celebrations, with precautions set at the highest level.
As part of the New Year message, PGM emphasized that it would remain available 24/7 through emergency hotlines, including "155 POLICE EMERGENCY," "156 NARCOTICS," and "199 FIRE DEPARTMENT," to address complaints and requests for assistance swiftly.
PGM also issued the following safety warnings to prevent endangering lives during celebrations:
-
Avoid Driving Under the Influence: Do not drive under the influence of alcohol. If necessary, ask a sober friend for help or use a taxi service. Speeding should be avoided. Prioritize reaching your destination safely and spending time with your loved ones rather than speeding.
-
Mobile Phone Use: Do not use your mobile phone while driving. Distracted driving can lead to accidents, and it is essential to keep focus on the road.
-
Seatbelt Use: Always wear your seatbelt, and ensure children are safely secured in the appropriate child seats or in the back seat with a seatbelt, according to regulations.
-
Motorcycle Safety: Drivers and passengers of motorcycles, tricycles, and ATVs must wear protective helmets to ensure their safety.
Additionally, PGM reminded citizens that it is important to report any reckless driving or violations of traffic rules immediately.
Warning Against Firearms Use
PGM also issued a warning regarding the use of firearms during the celebrations. The statement emphasized that discharging firearms could cause harm to individuals, especially in high-rise buildings. The use of firearms is a criminal offense, with penalties ranging from 7 to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Safety Tips for Home and Traffic
PGM advised citizens to ensure that security systems and cameras are activated before leaving their homes and to lock all doors and windows. They also recommended checking electrical appliances and outlets to prevent fire hazards.
The police stressed that both drivers and pedestrians should follow traffic rules to prevent accidents. PGM concluded by wishing the public a safe and happy New Year, hoping that 2025 will bring peace and prosperity to the people, the state, and the country.
