Denktaş to Be Commemorated on Monday
The founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Rauf Raif Denktaş, will be remembered on the 13th anniversary of his passing with ceremonies at his mausoleum and the Atatürk Cultural Center.
According to a statement by the National Days Celebration Committee Chair and Protocol Director Asu Muhtaroğlu, the first ceremony will begin at 10:08 a.m. at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Mausoleum. The program will commence with the laying of wreaths according to the protocol, followed by a moment of silence and the national anthem. The ceremony will conclude with the signing of the Special Memorial Book and an address by President Ersin Tatar.
The commemoration will continue at 10:45 a.m. at the Atatürk Cultural Center. The event will begin with a moment of silence and the national anthem, featuring speeches by President Tatar and Serdar Denktaş, the son of the late leader.
The ceremony will conclude with a dramatic performance by students of Esin Leman High School.
