Kidnapping and Ransom Demand Due to Debt in Famagusta

In Famagusta, five individuals kidnapped a person who failed to pay his debt and demanded a ransom of 2 million TL from his family. Three people were arrested in connection with the incident, while two others are being sought. The complainant was also arrested for unauthorized residence.

According to the police press bulletin, the incident occurred on Wednesday, January 22, under the headline "forced kidnapping, extortion, threat of violence, and unauthorized residence."

Five individuals, identified by their initials E.A. (28), B.Ş. (43), O.E. (45), Y.A. (58), and Y.R. (43), forcibly kidnapped M.A. (29) against his will for failing to pay his debt.

The suspects then called M.A.'s family in Turkey, demanding 2 million Turkish Liras and threatening to take M.A. to Southern Cyprus if the ransom was not paid. Suspects E.A. and B.Ş., along with M.I. (20), who was found to be connected to the case, were arrested.

The police reported that O.E., Y.A., and Y.R. are still being sought in connection with the incident.

Complainant Also Arrested for Unauthorized Residence

The complainant, M.A., was found in Famagusta yesterday and was arrested for residing without a legal status in the country after an immigration check revealed his unauthorized residence.
