The hailstorm led to roof collapses on several houses, barns, and garages, while some homes were flooded. The Head of the Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Committee, Undersecretary Hüseyin Cahitoğlu, stated that damage assessment efforts have begun, with district officials, municipalities, police, and the Civil Defense Organization actively working in the affected areas.

Despite the destruction, some residents took advantage of the snow-like scenery created by the hail.

Bakırcı: Damage Assessment Continues

Speaking to TAK news agency, Erenköy-Karpaz Mayor Hamit Bakırcı confirmed that hail caused roof damage on some homes and garages, and flooding in certain houses. He also noted that some barns collapsed, trapping animals underneath.

Bakırcı stated that the hailstorm primarily affected Sipahi, Adaçay, and Yenierenköy, and that authorities had been working since the morning to clear roads. Most roads have now been reopened, though work continues on some side streets.

He added that the icy road conditions initially made it impossible for vehicles to move, temporarily blocking roads from the entrance of Yenierenköy to Sipahi. However, most of the roads have since been cleared of hail.

Cahitoğlu: “We Are Continuing Our Efforts”

Meanwhile, The Head of the Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Committee, Undersecretary Hüseyin Cahitoğlu stated that the İskele District Governorate has begun damage assessment work in the areas of Yenierenköy, Yeşilköy, Sipahi, and Adaçay, which were hit by intense hailstorms.

Cahitoğlu said, “Erenköy Karpaz Municipality and the İskele Police Department are continuing their efforts to clear the roads. İskele Municipality has sent a grader to the area to open the roads as soon as possible. We are working in collaboration with the İskele District Governorate, Erenköy Karpaz Municipality, police, Civil Defense, and our local leaders.”

Cahitoğlu also emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources is standing by the producers, noting that teams from the Agricultural Department, Livestock Department, and the General Agricultural Insurance Fund have started working in the region to assess the damage.
