In a statement shared on his personal social media account, Erhürman emphasized:

"We stand firmly by our students, teachers, and science-based educational approaches, and we will continue to do so."

"This Is Not Governance, but Mismanagement"

Erhürman recalled a recent parliamentary meeting convened at the request of the Prime Minister, which was attended by representatives of political parties, unions, and the Bar Association. While tensions arose at times, the meeting provided an opportunity for all parties to express their views comprehensively.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that the government was seeking solutions through consultation to avoid social division and tension over educational matters. However, Erhürman pointed out that despite the withdrawal of a controversial regulation, the government's failure to properly manage the process led to the current crisis.

"It is evident that ministry officials interpret 'managing the process' as orchestrating today's events, which escalated to the point of causing a school principal to fall ill. This is not governance, but sheer mismanagement."

Erhürman accused the government of pitting teachers against students and parents, exacerbating divisions within society instead of addressing fundamental educational challenges.

"This Government Has Run Its Course"

Referring to the long-standing legal framework that allows students at the Theological College to wear headscarves, Erhürman argued that an alternative approach already exists within the current system. He criticized the authorities for failing to manage the issue constructively.

"The real issue here is whether the government cares about preventing further societal erosion in a country already struggling with problems in population, education, healthcare, the economy, and traffic."

Erhürman concluded by calling for the government's resignation, arguing that its policies have continuously deepened crises rather than resolving them.

"In a democracy, the path is clear: You govern effectively, or you step aside. This so-called 'government' has already collapsed in practice, and it lacks even the will to acknowledge its failure. They are merely dragging out the inevitable, and this delay is costing our society dearly. Stop creating new problems, stop compounding existing ones, and leave. Until you do, this society will not be able to breathe freely."

Reaffirming his stance, Erhürman stressed that the CTP will always oppose short-sighted, unscientific approaches to education and will continue to support teachers, students, and evidence-based educational policies.
