During the talks, which lasted an hour and a half at the office of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus, the leaders decided that the committee members would be selected from both communities with gender balance in mind. Each side will nominate 12 members, and the final list will be submitted to the UN by April 15.

The leaders also agreed on the continuation of work by the Environment Technical Committee on climate change and the impact of mining areas, while the Cultural Heritage Committee will focus on the restoration of cemeteries.

Additionally, discussions were held on crossing points and the proposed solar power plant in the buffer zone. The leaders assigned their special representatives to continue talks on these issues to find mutually acceptable solutions.

The meeting, hosted by UN Special Representative Colin Stewart, was attended by Turkish Cypriot Special Representative Güneş Onar and Greek Cypriot Negotiator Menelaos Menelau.

Although the leaders could not attend the 1,000th meeting of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) at Ledra Palace, they took a commemorative photograph with committee members before their meeting to show support for the ongoing work.

In their post-meeting statements, both leaders described the discussions as constructive and confirmed that they would meet again in the near future.
