Journalist Ali Kişmir’s Trial Postponed to April 17

The freedom of expression case involving Press Workers’ Union (Basın-Sen) President Ali Kişmir at the Constitutional Court has been postponed to April 17. Kişmir’s lawyer, Hasan Esendağlı, stated that a prosecutor has been assigned to the case and that various examinations will be conducted.

Following the court session, Esendağlı, who is also the President of the Cyprus Turkish Bar Association, made a statement to the press in front of the courthouse.
He noted that an investigation would be carried out to determine whether parliamentary transcripts would be submitted to the court and whether any records from parliamentary proceedings were relevant.
Additionally, an examination will be conducted regarding the period when the law in question was enacted in 1983.
