Christodoulides to Address Cyprus Business Forum in New York

The forum, organised in partnership with the Cyprus Shipowners’ Association and backed by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and Invest Cyprus, aims to showcase the island’s appeal as an international business and investment hub. 

Ministers George Papanastasiou (Energy, Trade and Industry), Nicodemos Damianou (Research, Innovation and Digital Policy), and Marina Hadjimanolis (Shipping) are among the speakers at the event.

The speakers are expected to highlight Cyprus’ strategic location, business-friendly environment and growing presence in sectors such as energy, shipping, financial services and technology.

An announcement released on Friday mentioned that “recent credit rating upgrades have reinforced investor confidence in Cyprus, underlining the country’s stable and competitive economic landscape”.

It added that “the government’s focus on sustainable growth, fiscal discipline and ongoing reforms has further strengthened its international standing”.

Moreover, the event will bring together government officials and private sector representatives to discuss security, energy, technology, banking and shipping, with a focus on Cyprus’ role as a gateway to Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

As part of the forum, Safe Bulkers—listed on the NYSE—will host a special ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange honouring Cypriot businessman Polys Hadjiioannou, CEO of Safe Bulkers, Ink.  

President Christodoulides will ring the closing bell, an event set to be broadcast live to an audience of around 150 million viewers worldwide.
