The inspections, conducted by teams under the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources between 4 and 10 April, involved sampling both imported and local products for analysis at the State Laboratory. The samples were assessed based on European Union pesticide residue limits.

The Ministry stated that 23 out of 24 samples from imported products were deemed safe. However, cherry tomatoes supplied by SVS Tic. Ltd. were found to contain pesticide residues above the permitted limit. It was announced that the product would be returned to its country of origin at the company’s request.

Out of 24 local product samples, 18 were found to be safe. Two samples contained unapproved pesticides, while four others exceeded legal pesticide limits.

Strawberries grown by Hasan Çolak in the village of Yedidalga and spinach produced by Ulus Kızılyürek of Akçay were found to contain unapproved plant protection substances. As a result, these products will be destroyed.

Strawberries from two different batches belonging to Behiye Pekdoğan of Yedidalga, cluster tomatoes produced by Unicap Enterpress Ltd. in Güneşköy, and Valencia oranges grown by Hasan Sindeli of Akçay all tested above the legal pesticide limit. Consequently, harvesting of these products has been halted pending further laboratory analysis.
