Üstel: We Filed a Complaint with the Police Over Verbal Attacks on Turkish Cypriots

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, in a statement regarding the Disciplinary Regulation, announced that they had filed a complaint with the police concerning verbal attacks on the Turkish Cypriot people on social media.

Speaking at the Republic Assembly about the Disciplinary Regulation, Üstel noted that they had taken action against the verbal abuse directed at the Turkish Cypriot community.
Since assuming office, Üstel stated that he has always advocated for dialogue and consensus, and this approach was also applied to the Disciplinary Regulation. He emphasized that they tried every possible way to reach an agreement and implemented the necessary changes.
With the emergence of this change, Üstel expressed his disappointment over the insults directed at the Turkish Cypriot people, stating that upon seeing these attacks, they immediately reported them to the police. He added, "While our struggle is clear, we stand by our people and will continue to do so."
The Prime Minister also mentioned that a staff member from the Religious Affairs Department was suspended due to statements they made.
Regarding the treatment of businesspeople in Dubai and Moscow, Üstel spoke about an incident in which a businessman was unable to pass immigration in Dubai, noting that further information was still pending, but he would share the details with members of parliament once available.
Üstel highlighted that the Turkish Cypriot people have been fighting for their existence since the 1950s, with peace and freedom coming to the island through the Peace Operation. Despite embargoes and isolations, he stated that the Turkish Cypriot community has never been disconnected from the world.
Stating that discussions on a federal solution have been ongoing for 50 years, Üstel remarked that these negotiations have reached their limits, declaring, "For the UBP, the federation negotiations are over." He pointed to the solution model based on two equal sovereign states.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that with the great support of the Republic of Turkey, they are continuing to work towards bringing the country to a more modern level.
He added that the Greek Cypriot side has made every effort to undermine the economy of the Turkish Cypriot community, referring to the efforts of the Immovable Property Commission. He noted that through additional taxes, aid from Turkey, and the government's borrowing, the payments for compensation related to immovable properties are being accelerated. Üstel explained that the Greek Cypriot Administration has been pressuring not to apply to the commission.
The Prime Minister also stated that the Greek Cypriot side is attempting to intimidate the Turkish Cypriot community, entrepreneurs, and tourism professionals through legal regulations, adding, "Our economy continues to grow day by day, and the South is very uncomfortable with this."
Lastly, Üstel mentioned that although some Turkish republics may have signed agreements to benefit from EU funds, Azerbaijan's strong support was also conveyed to them at the Diplomacy Forum in Antalya. He emphasized, "We will continue to strive for our country on every platform."
