Tatar Extends Condolences Following the Death of Pope Francis

President Ersin Tatar has extended his condolences following the death of Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of the Catholic world. In a message issued by the Presidency, Tatar expressed his sorrow upon receiving the news of the Pope’s passing.

“I have learned with sadness of the passing of Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of the Catholic world, who left a lasting mark globally through his calls for human rights and universal peace,” Tatar said in his message.
Tatar emphasized that Pope Francis was not only a religious leader but also a respected advocate for peace, dialogue, and solidarity on the global stage. “His sensitivity to issues such as global justice, the environment, and refugee rights conveyed important messages on behalf of humanity,” he noted.
Extending his condolences, Tatar added: “On behalf of myself and the Turkish Cypriot people, I offer my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the Catholic community, the Vatican, and all those who held Pope Francis dear.”
