Civil Society Organizations Voice Support for TEKNOFEST

Several civil society organizations have expressed their support for TEKNOFEST, set to take place from May 1–4 at the old Ercan Airport in Nicosia, while also criticizing the opposition voiced by the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers’ Union (KTOEÖS).

In separate statements, the Platform for Rights and Freedoms, the National Struggle Foundation (MMV), the Turkish Cypriot Businesspeople Association (İŞAD), and the Cyprus Entrepreneurship and Technology Investment Association (GİTYAD) urged the public to embrace the internationally renowned aerospace and technology festival.
The Platform for Rights and Freedoms highlighted the educational value of TEKNOFEST, which is organized under the leadership of the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3), pointing to student competitions, VR tunnels, drone contests, and simulation experiences. MMV emphasized the festival’s role in advancing national industry and innovation, referencing Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s vision of achieving contemporary civilization through local technological development.
İŞAD called on students, families, and pro-Atatürk educators to seize the opportunity presented by the festival, while GİTYAD underscored the importance of viewing such events beyond political lenses, stating that science and the future of society should take precedence.
