Erdoğan: I Will Be in TRNC This Weekend, Promising New Announcements

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that he will travel to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) this weekend to inaugurate newly completed projects and take part in TEKNOFEST, sharing in the excitement of the youth. He also stated that during his visit, he will unveil new investments and initiatives for Turkish Cypriots.

Speaking at the Presidential Complex following a Cabinet meeting, Erdoğan highlighted Turkey’s advancements in satellite technology, noting that the country’s journey into space, which began 31 years ago with the launch of Türksat 1B, had reached a new stage with Türksat 6A.
Recalling that Türksat 6A was launched into space on July 9 last year and completed its first test broadcast on February 17, Erdoğan said the satellite officially entered service on April 21. “It will hopefully remain operational for at least 15 years,” he said. “With 6A, the number of communication satellites operated by Türksat has risen to six, and our total number of satellites in space has reached ten. Thanks to Türksat 6A, which has a domestic production rate of over 80 percent, Turkey has become one of only 11 countries capable of producing its own communications satellite.”
Erdoğan expressed his hope that Türksat 6A would be beneficial to the country and the nation, and extended his congratulations to all institutions and engineers involved in the project, from design and production to transportation, launch, orbital placement, and testing.
He also noted that April 22 was a particularly busy day for diplomatic engagements, mentioning his meeting with Governor-General of Australia Samantha Mostyn, who visited Turkey for the 110th anniversary of the Gallipoli land battles. Erdoğan described the talks as productive.
Reiterating his upcoming visit to Northern Cyprus, Erdoğan said he would inaugurate completed projects and participate in TEKNOFEST, where he would engage with young people. He added that the visit would also include the announcement of new investments and development initiatives for the Turkish Cypriot community.
