Stateless Association Organizes Mass Citizenship Application Protest in South Nicosia

The Stateless Association held a mass citizenship application protest today in South Nicosia to support individuals who have been unable to apply for citizenship of the Republic of Cyprus.

The association emphasized that this action was a step toward ensuring fundamental rights for people who have been forced to live without identification documents for years.
The protest was organized to denounce what the association described as a state practice inconsistent with government seriousness and contrary to citizens' rights, and to support those wishing to submit applications. According to the association, participants gathered at 8:30 a.m. on the southern side of Ledra Palace and began a march towards the District Administration of Nicosia at 9:00 a.m.
Alongside those who have yet to submit applications, individuals who had previously applied or who are not affected by the issue also joined the protest in solidarity.
The association highlighted that the event represents an important step in the ongoing struggle of stateless individuals to access basic rights.
