AKEL Accuses Christodoulides of Playing Small Politics

AKEL has accused the President of the Cyprus Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, of engaging in election propaganda for the 2028 elections and overlooking the far-right ELAM party for political gain.

According to Fileleftheros, Christodoulides addressed issues such as the water crisis and the “green tax” without mentioning the Cyprus problem, using the platform to criticize AKEL. In response, AKEL accused Christodoulides of playing “small politics.”
AKEL rejected Christodoulides’ claim that the party did not pressure the government regarding the “green tax” policy, pointing out that several statements and actions from AKEL led the government to reconsider its position.
The party urged Christodoulides to stop engaging in small political calculations and election propaganda, warning that by doing so, he is even tolerating the far-right ELAM party.
