Tımbıl was brought before the court again following his arrest in connection with the deadly accident that occurred on 17 May 2025 at around 6:00 PM on 15 Kasım Street in Pınarbaşı.

Police Sergeant Nadir Timuçin testified about the incident, explaining that Tımbıl, driving a Toyota Vitz with license plate RA 728, allegedly failed to yield the right of way while turning onto the driveway of a relative’s residence. At the same time, Rifat Gezici, riding a Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle (license plate ZJ 128) at excessive speed and carelessly from the opposite direction, collided with Tımbıl’s vehicle.

The collision caused Tımbıl’s car to veer off and come to rest facing east on the left side of the road, while Gezici’s motorcycle was thrown off the road into an open field, landing on its left side facing north.

Both drivers were rushed to Lefkoşa Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital’s emergency department. Gezici succumbed to his injuries, while Tımbıl was discharged the same day after treatment and subsequently arrested based on a warrant from Girne Magistrates’ Court. He was taken into custody at Girne Central Police Station.

Sergeant Timuçin added that on 18 May, Tımbıl appeared before the court and was granted a two-day extension for investigation. Several CCTV footage recordings were reviewed during this time. The ongoing investigation includes examining cameras along the routes taken by both drivers.

The motorcycle’s speedometer was locked at 180 km/h. Authorities plan to conduct speed assessments for both Tımbıl and Gezici.

The court, presided over by Judge Evren Mürsel, granted the police request to detain Tımbıl for an additional three days for further investigation.
