Tatar: ‘One Nation, Three States’ Slogan Represents Shared Will and Hope for the Future
The “Young Power of the Turkic World: One Nation, Three States Vision Workshop,” organized through the cooperation of the National Unity Party (UBP), Turkey’s AK Party, and the New Azerbaijan Party, is being held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The workshop opened with a moment of silence, followed by the singing of the Turkish National Anthem and the Azerbaijan National Anthem.
A promotional video outlining the preparation and signing process of the “One Nation, Three States” protocol was then presented.
In his opening speech, President Ersin Tatar expressed his gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for their unwavering support to the Turkish Cypriot people.
Tatar emphasized that the struggle, step by step, is fundamentally rooted in the sovereign rights of the Turkish Cypriot community. He noted that at international forums, the Turkish Cypriots are always recognized as an essential component of Cyprus.
Recalling that the Turkish Cypriots, as equal sovereign partners in the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus, were forcibly excluded and later removed from the partnership, Tatar referred to the July 20, 1974 Peace Operation as the beginning of a new era.
“We have maintained our existence here with dignity, always seeing the Motherland Turkey as by our side. This support is a great strength and hope for us. We have achieved this. Today, once again, at this historic meeting, I wholeheartedly congratulate the UBP, the New Azerbaijan Party, and the AK Party,” Tatar said.
He underlined that the Turkish Cypriots continue to follow the path of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey and the Motherland Turkey.
President Tatar spoke of ongoing efforts to further develop the TRNC, highlighting tourism, agriculture, and industry sectors, and underscoring the promise of technological advancements turning the TRNC into a digital island and a center of attraction.
“To achieve all of this, it is crucial that our youth adapt to all these innovations and build the future of this land accordingly,” he stressed.
Tatar expressed confidence that strengthening the slogan of “One Nation, Three States” and the collective will behind it would also deepen political and economic cooperation.
“Dear youth, who embrace these ideas and see in them a hopeful future — with your foresight, you can achieve great things,” he concluded.
