Holguín: “We Are Working Towards the July Meeting in New York”

After the talks, Holguín and then President Tatar each addressed the media.

Holguín described the meeting as “very positive” and confirmed that efforts were continuing towards the informal July meeting. She noted that she had also met with several technical committees over the past week, expressing particular satisfaction with her discussion with the Youth Technical Committee.

Holguín said she believed the Youth Committee, established following the Geneva meeting, offers a promising path for building future connections between the two communities. She also met with the bicommunal Culture and Environment Committees and noted ongoing progress on a solar energy project led by the Environment Committee. She expressed hope that this initiative would yield concrete outcomes by July.

Looking ahead, Holguín announced plans to meet Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides tomorrow, followed by a joint lunch with the island’s two chambers of commerce. She reaffirmed her commitment to fostering cooperation and building bridges in various sectors across the divide.
