Police officer Ali Aydoğanlı presented the case in court, stating that the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on 25 May 2025 in an open area off Mehmet Akif Street in Nicosia. According to the investigation, the suspects confronted M.T. (49) due to a prior dispute and stabbed him in the back, abdomen, and arm using an unlawfully carried knife. After the stabbing, the suspects allegedly continued to assault the victim with blows to various parts of his body.

The victim, who sustained severe injuries, was taken to the Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. A medical report indicated not only knife wounds but also injuries caused by a blunt-ended piercing object. One of the stab wounds was reportedly close to the lung.

Police told the court that an initial three-day remand had allowed them to review multiple surveillance camera recordings and take witness statements. While the 22 cm knife used in the attack has been recovered, the second piercing object remains missing. Investigators are continuing to collect statements and review additional footage.

Citing the ongoing nature of the investigation, police requested an extension of the suspects' detention. After reviewing the testimony, Judge Nuray Necdet approved the request, ordering that the suspects remain in custody for six more days.
