Connected to Drugs Dropped in Front of Market: Necati Bal Detained for 5 Days

Earlier, a cigarette pack containing about one gram of ready-to-smoke cannabis was dropped in front of a market in Kyrenia. Surveillance footage identified Ceyda Nur Kiraz as the person who dropped the package, and she was arrested. Necati Bal, connected to the case, was also arrested and brought before the court again.

Police Officer Mehmet Dağdelen stated that Necati Bal is accused of violating the Pharmaceutical and Pharmacy Law and possession, distribution, and use of illegal drugs in Kyrenia on June 2, 2025.

On June 2 at around 23:30, police teams found the cigarette pack containing cannabis near the market entrance and seized the substance. Camera footage confirmed that Ceyda Nur Kiraz dropped the pack.

Further investigation revealed Bal’s involvement, and he voluntarily confessed to the crime. During a search of his residence, officers found 10 Proton Labs brand steroid drugs without official permission in the bedroom, a precision scale with suspected drug residue in the kitchen, and a syringe with suspected drug residue.

Bal claimed the steroids were his, brought from Turkey, and that the scale was used to weigh food. Regarding the syringe, he admitted to using the steroids with it.

Phone records showed contact and messaging between Bal and the detained Ceyda Nur Kiraz. Police requested further analysis of the seized items and footage, and therefore asked for Bal’s detention for five more days.

Judge Temay Sağer ordered Necati Bal to remain in custody for five days.
