Poll Shows AKEL in the Lead ELAM Ranks Third with 13 Percent

A recent public opinion survey conducted in June in Southern Cyprus shows that AKEL has emerged as the leading party with 19 percent support, followed closely by DISY at 18 percent. The far-right ELAM came in third with 13 percent, while the newly established “Alma” party secured fourth place with 12 percent. DIKO fell to fifth place with just 7 percent, losing its long-held position as the country’s third-largest party.

According to Haravgi, which reported on the IMR poll, the Alma party — founded by former Auditor General Odysseas Michaelides — has quickly gained traction, indicating potential for political influence in future elections despite its recent formation.
The poll also revealed that the Green Party and VOLT each garnered 3 percent, EDEK received 2 percent, while DIPA and the Hunters’ Movement each polled at 1 percent. Meanwhile, 11 percent of respondents declared themselves undecided, and 6 percent said they would not vote.
