State Funding to HP Suspended Following Legal Opinion
The state contribution to the People's Party (HP) has been suspended based on a legal opinion from the Attorney General's Office. The suspension stems from the party's lack of active representation in parliament, with government sources also confirming that repayment of previously disbursed funds is now under consideration.
HP leader Kudret Özersay has criticised the move, claiming the party's state funding was cut “arbitrarily.” However, government officials told Kıbrıs Postası that the decision was made in line with legal provisions, specifically Article 45 of the law governing public funding for political parties.
