Three Traffic Accidents in Kyrenia and Nicosia

Three separate traffic accidents occurred in the Kyrenia and Nicosia regions on Tuesday and Wednesday, resulting in two people being injured and one driver arrested for driving under the influence.

The accidents took place on the Kyrenia–Nicosia main road, Naci Talat Street in Kyrenia, and in the Nicosia Industrial Zone.
Drunk Driver Crashes into Guardrails
According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the first accident occurred on July 9 at around 7:30 AM. Burak Gürbüz (27), driving a car with license plate RN 834, lost control of his vehicle under the influence of 293 milligrams of alcohol while heading toward Nicosia. The car struck metal barriers in the central reservation of the highway. No injuries were reported, but Gürbüz was arrested for driving under the influence and causing an accident. The investigation is ongoing.
Pedestrian Hit in Kyrenia
The second accident occurred on July 10 at approximately 1:30 AM on Naci Talat Street in Kyrenia. Nurselin Sena Ağdelen (20), driving vehicle GR 362, hit pedestrian Seval Köksal (26) as she was crossing the road. Köksal was taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia, where she received first aid and was placed under observation. Ağdelen was arrested, and an investigation is underway.
Motorcyclist Injured in Nicosia Collision
The third accident occurred on July 9 around 6:00 PM in Nicosia’s Industrial Zone. Mehmet Özgüven (25), driving car MF 588 westbound, made a careless right turn at the intersection of 10th Street and collided with a motorcycle ridden by Muhannet Nalbant (19), who was traveling south. Nalbant suffered a fractured hip and is under observation in the Orthopedics Department of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. The police are continuing their investigation.
