Karakaya: Justice Fight Will Continue Until Officials Are Convicted for Probable Intent

Ruşen Karakaya, President of the Champion Angels Association, said the second hearing in the criminal case against public officials over the İsias Hotel disaster will be held on July 16, stressing that “our fight for justice will continue until those responsible are convicted with probable intent.”

Speaking to BRT, Karakaya highlighted the ongoing pursuit of justice and pointed out that public officials played a major role in the construction of the hotel, saying, “If those officials hadn’t signed off on it, that building — which we now call a killer — would not have existed, and our children would still be with us.”
Karakaya said two of the six defendants are attending hearings via video link and have shown no remorse, with one refusing to answer any questions. Expert reports, he added, clearly prove the defendants’ responsibility and reveal structural tampering in the building.
Despite the pain, Karakaya emphasized that the association’s work continues with a focus on helping other children. He noted that construction efforts for the Champion Angels Educational Complex are ongoing and that 210 students currently receive scholarships through the association, with hopes to expand support through public contributions.
