Toros: Change Is Essential to Restore the Dignity and Credibility of the Presidency

In a statement shared on social media, Toros argued that the Presidency has drifted away from the principles of impartiality, responsibility, and seriousness.

“Our highest office, the Presidency, is the institution that should represent the unity, solidarity, and dignity of our people,” Toros said. “The credibility and respectability of this institution must be a shared value for everyone, regardless of political affiliation.”

Referring to recent developments, Toros stated, “There is a growing perception that the Presidency has strayed from the principles of impartiality, responsibility, and seriousness.”

He continued: “The Presidency that the Turkish Cypriot people deserve and expect must be one that is free from populist approaches, committed to the responsibilities regarding Cyprus, and determined to protect the common rights and interests of the people. Change has become essential in order to restore the dignity and credibility of this institution.”
