Erhürman Meets Economists: The Presidency Is Not Only a Negotiation Post

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader and presidential candidate Tufan Erhürman met with a group of economists, stressing that the Presidency is not solely responsible for negotiations but also carries managerial responsibilities in areas such as health, education, economy, and security through a pool of expert advisers.

In his opening remarks, Erhürman underlined the economic responsibilities of the office in both domestic and foreign policy.
“The Presidency Is Not Merely a Negotiator”
Erhürman emphasised that the role of the Presidency goes beyond negotiations, stating, “This office is tasked with engaging all international actors and holds powers and responsibilities related to economic matters in both domestic and foreign policy through its advisers.”
He also pointed out that the Presidency naturally bears managerial responsibilities in various sectors due to its team of expert consultants in health, education, economy, and security.
In the public portion of the meeting, Erhürman said he would soon hold a closed-door session to exchange views with economists specialised in their respective fields. Prior to that, he drew attention to the Presidency’s broad economic mandate.
