Scorching Weekend Ahead: Temperatures to Soar to 44°C Inland
The Meteorology Department has announced that from August 9 to 12, temperatures will rise 4 to 7 degrees above seasonal averages. Inland areas are expected to reach highs of 44°C, while coastal regions may see temperatures of up to 39°C.
A hot air mass is set to dominate over the weekend, with authorities warning the public to take precautions against potential heat-related risks.
According to the department's weekly forecast, skies will remain mostly clear and partly cloudy throughout the period. The region will be under the influence of a low-pressure system, with the first days of the period expected to be hot, followed by very hot and relatively humid conditions.
Inland highs will range between 37-40°C in the early part of the period and climb to 41-44°C later, while coastal temperatures will increase from 32-35°C to 36-39°C.
Winds are forecast to blow from the south and west at moderate strength, occasionally reaching strong levels.
