CTP MP Warns Against Last-Minute Citizenship Preparations Ahead of Elections
Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Ürün Solyalı reminded that the election ban will begin on 24 August and noted that there are only a few days left for voter lists to be posted.
Solyalı said his sources indicate that the Council of Ministers is still preparing hundreds of citizenships. He added that the Ministry of Interior is reportedly engaged in intense work, including adjusting addresses.
Repeating his call for such actions to stop so close to the election, Solyalı stated: “Employments and land allocations are already major points of debate! Putting aside the issues of population, citizenship policy, or entitlements, these kinds of actions wound the social conscience. We will protect the integrity of the ballot boxes.”
