Drunk Drivers Cause Three Separate Accidents
The Police Press Office reported that three drivers under the influence of alcohol were involved in separate accidents on Alsancak and the Nicosia–Morphou Main Road between September 28 and 29, resulting in three injuries and the arrest of all drivers.
Two Accidents on Alsancak Karaoğlanoğlu Street
At around 19:00 on September 28, a vehicle driven by Philip Tafadzwa KADYARIDZIRE (30) with license plate VR 274, traveling under the influence of alcohol at 136 milligrams, collided with a motorcycle in front of him. The car then struck a concrete barrier in the median before coming to a stop. The injured motorcyclist, Naveed SAFDAR (31), was taken to Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for observation. KADYARIDZIRE was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
Later that evening, at approximately 22:00, another accident occurred on the same street when Amgad Nazar Mohamed ELATTA (23) driving GF 766 under the influence of alcohol at 119 milligrams collided with the vehicle ahead, license plate LB 198. ELATTA was treated at Kyrenia Dr. Akçiçek State Hospital and released before being arrested.
Alcohol-Related Accident on Nicosia–Morphou Main Road
At 00:15 on September 29, Ozan SÖZTUTANLAR (24), under the influence at 204 milligrams, lost control of his vehicle on the 15–16 km stretch of the Nicosia–Morphou Main Road, hitting steel barriers and the car in front. His vehicle overturned and came to rest on the median. SÖZTUTANLAR was treated and discharged from Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and was also arrested.
The police stated that investigations into all three accidents are ongoing.
