According to the announcement, stubble fires destroy beneficial organisms and organic matter in the soil, decreasing fertility and eliminating vital habitats for living organisms.

Every year in September, those wishing to burn stubble must obtain a “Special Stubble Burning Permit” from the local district office. This permit is issued solely to eliminate harmful plants and plant diseases. Fires must be conducted in accordance with the “Regulations on Combating and Preventing Field Fires.”

Stubble burning also disrupts the natural balance, increases the proliferation of harmful insects and diseases, and accelerates soil erosion caused by wind and water, destroying the soil’s most valuable top layer.

Special safety measures are required: if the land is flat, a firebreak of at least 6 meters should be cleared; on sloped terrain, a 20-meter-wide firebreak is necessary. The cleared strip must expose bare soil, either cleaned or plowed.

Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities via the Fire Department hotline at Alo 199.
