Five Greek Cypriots’ Military Court Trial Postponed to 8 October
The trial of five Greek Cypriot defendants charged with “violating a military restricted area” has been postponed to 8 October to allow the testimony of an expert witness from Turkey.
The five defendants—G.G. (E-66), A.K. (E-60), A.K. (K-60), N.G. (K-63), and A.L. (E-68)—who are being tried without detention, appeared again before the Military Court today.
The hearing was held before Judge Tutku Candaş, with defense lawyer Uğur Çulhaoğlu present.
The court ordered the trial to be adjourned to Wednesday, 8 October. During the next session, an expert from Turkey is expected to testify as a witness for the defense.
The defendants had been arrested on 19 July around 16:00 after entering the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus via the Akyar Kara Gate in Famagusta without completing immigration procedures, thereby allegedly violating a military restricted area.
