Kırdağ Promises to Resolve Cyprus Issue Within Two Years

Speaking to the Turkish News Agency (TAK), Kırdağ said he would meet with South Cyprus leader Nikos Christodoulides within 15 days of taking office to present an alternative solution draft and map.

Kırdağ, running for the presidency for the fifth time, emphasized his commitment to achieving a political solution without territorial concessions or population transfers. He described his campaign as self-funded, supplemented by sponsors, and reported strong support, especially among young voters.

“I am running to bring a different plan to the table,” Kırdağ said. “Once the disillusioned voters turn out, this will be over. On October 19, I will be president.”

He outlined key priorities for his potential presidency, including strengthening internal governance, transforming Famagusta Port into an international hub, opening Varosha (Kapalı Maraş) under UN supervision, establishing new border crossings, and introducing AI technology for smoother transit. Kırdağ also pledged to enhance food safety, improve the efficiency of the Immovable Property Commission, and ensure public health protections.

On the Cyprus issue, he reiterated his commitment to immediate dialogue, asserting that the TRNC can achieve a fair political settlement without compromising territory or population. He promised to act decisively on property disputes within an international framework.

Kırdağ concluded by highlighting his credibility and trustworthiness, stressing that voters know him and his record, and pledging a secure and responsible leadership focused on a peaceful, prosperous, and internationally engaged TRNC.
