Cyprus Socialist Party Claims Third Censorship

The Cyprus Socialist Party (CSP) announced that the speech of its General Secretary Mehmet Birinci, scheduled to air on Bayrak Radio Television (BRT), was censored by the Supreme Election Board (YSK).

According to the party, the speech was recorded on October 10, 2025, and planned for broadcast on October 13, 2025, but the YSK intervened to censor it.
The party shared the censored paragraph:
"What words are these; in today’s speech, I will not mention that Turkey, as one of the guarantor countries under the Republic of Cyprus, responsible for protecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Constitution, after the events in 1974 under NATO plans, occupied part of Cyprus before the international community and on the political stage, and that in the North of Cyprus, according to the European Union’s expression, it functions as a sub-administration, which we consider a colonial administration."
The party criticized the fact that lawmakers and government officials from Turkey engaging in propaganda for Mr. Ersin Tatar were not considered illegal, whereas CSP’s attempt to state what it calls “the facts” was deemed potentially “against the law and encouraging the commission of a crime.”
The statement concluded with the party emphasizing, “The judgment belongs to our people.”
