“Proposal for a Two-State Solution to the Cyprus Issue” Approved by Majority Vote

The Republic Assembly debated and approved by majority vote the government’s proposal endorsing a “two-state solution” to the Cyprus issue. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel requested that the vote be conducted standing.

The proposal, titled “Proposal for a Two-State Solution to the Cyprus Issue,” was submitted by certain National Unity Party (UBP) deputies, Democratic Party (DP) members, Rebirth Party (YDP) leader Erhan Arıklı, and Nicosia Independent MP Hasan Tosunoğlu.
The extraordinary session of the Assembly discussed and voted on the proposal today. Following a standing vote by show of hands, the Assembly concluded its proceedings for the day.
