Erdoğan Congratulates Erhürman on Election Victory
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated Tufan Erhürman, who won the presidential election in the TRNC according to unofficial results.
In a written statement, Erdoğan said, “I congratulate Mr. Tufan Erhürman, who has been elected President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus according to the unofficial results of today’s election.”
Highlighting the democratic maturity of the TRNC, Erdoğan added, “I wish for this election, in which our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters have reflected their will at the ballot box, to be beneficial for our countries and our region.”
Reaffirming Turkey’s continued support for the TRNC, Erdoğan said, “Turkey will continue to defend, together with our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters, the sovereignty rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in every forum.”
