Speaking alongside her lawyer, Horuz said, “It was a difficult process. I am extremely grateful to everyone who helped me. My happiness is indescribable.”

Lawyer: “Our Efforts Were Not in Vain”

Horuz’s lawyer, Beste Dal, told reporters in front of the Ministry of Interior that their efforts had not gone unanswered.

Dal confirmed that Horuz had been released following the approval of her humanitarian residence permit and expressed her joy at the development. She also provided details about the next steps, noting that Horuz will first obtain Turkish citizenship before applying for citizenship of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and that they will continue to follow up on all procedures.

Born in the TRNC, Horuz had been detained on the grounds of “illegal residence in the country.” On 21 November, she was brought before the Famagusta District Court, where a seven-day extension of her detention had been ordered.
