Hasipoğlu noted that, under normal circumstances, minimum wage negotiations start in January after the cost-of-living figures are announced. This year, however, the process was brought forward for the first time. He said the initial meeting was held before the end of the year and that the views of both worker and employer representatives were heard.

“Our Core Philosophy Is a Wage That Respects Human Dignity”

Hasipoğlu stressed that the government’s fundamental approach is to ensure that workers receive fair compensation for their labour. He said the aim is to reach a wage level that allows employees and their families to live a life in line with human dignity, while also safeguarding the sustainability of production and employment for employers.

“The Meeting Was Held in a Mature and Constructive Atmosphere”

Describing the tone of the meeting, Hasipoğlu said discussions took place in a calm, constructive and mature environment. He noted that some participants were surprised by this atmosphere, but emphasised that the government’s goal is to determine a figure on which both sides can agree. He added that the government would welcome an outcome reached through mutual consensus.

“The Second Meeting Will Be Held on 7 January”

Hasipoğlu said the minimum wage determination process would continue without delay. He announced that a second meeting would take place on 7 January, with the aim of finalising the new minimum wage by mid-January. Concluding his remarks, he said the priority is to ensure that workers receive the return on their labour in a timely manner.
