“This Time, We Do Not Have Such an Intention”

Alp Cengiz Alp said the aim this year is to complete the minimum wage process in a shorter period. He noted that debates stretching until the final days of January create stress for both employees and employers, adding that there is a clear intention this year not to prolong the process.

“Some Businesses in Certain Sectors May Close”

Alp Cengiz Alp said small businesses in particular, as well as some sectors, are under serious economic pressure. He stated that sectors which previously operated with low wages are now facing very high figures, making sustainability increasingly difficult for businesses. He added that some enterprises may be unable to bear this burden.

“It Is Easier in City Centres, but Towns Are Struggling”

Alp Cengiz Alp said the economic burden is not felt equally across all regions. He noted that businesses operating in city centres can manage the process relatively more easily, while both employees and employers in towns and smaller settlements face greater difficulties. He stressed that this reality should be taken into account.

“We Are Trying to Find a Wage the Overall Average Can Sustain”

Alp Cengiz Alp said it is not possible for everyone to be satisfied, but that efforts are being made to reach a consensus on a wage that the overall average can sustain. He stated that work is under way on a figure that will not overburden either employers or employees, adding that the process should be concluded without unnecessary delay.

“No One Should Be Tense”

Concluding his remarks, Alp Cengiz Alp delivered a New Year message, expressing the hope that the process will be conducted calmly and constructively. He wished everyone a peaceful start to the new year and extended his New Year greetings to the public.
