Speaking at the opening of the Famagusta Mental Health Centre, Üstel said there were many unfinished projects and commitments made to the public that must first be fulfilled.

Addressing the ceremony, Üstel stated:
“We said it is not the time for an early election. If an early election were to be held, who would carry out these openings? We still have a lot of work to do and promises we have given to our people. First, we will complete the unfinished projects. My ministerial colleagues are continuing their work together with their bureaucratic teams.”

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı, speaking earlier on Kıbrıs Postası TV, said he would prefer elections to be held between April and mid-May. Arıklı noted, however, that the final decision on elections would be taken by the National Unity Party (UBP) and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
