Erhürman Sends Rule Of Law Message: Judiciary Speaks Through Its Rulings

In a post on social media, Erhürman delivered key messages regarding the independence and neutrality of the judiciary. Drawing attention to the widely accepted principle within legal circles that “the judiciary speaks through its rulings,” he said that the Supreme Court has clearly demonstrated this sensitivity through its practice to date.

In line with this principle, Erhürman stated that the legislature, the executive and politicians in general are obliged to exercise the utmost care not to force the judiciary to speak outside of its decisions. He underlined that the judiciary must not be turned into an object of political debate or political guidance.

Recalling that the Supreme Court had recently issued a statement in order to correctly inform the public, Erhürman noted that the Court has now once again made it clear, through a justified statement, that neither the legislature nor the executive — nor politicians — can give instructions to the judiciary or claim to grant it authority.

In his remarks, Erhürman also highlighted the principle of the rule of law, emphasizing that judicial independence and impartiality are core values that must be safeguarded by all segments of society. He said that, as the legislature, the executive and as politicians, they are obliged to fulfil their responsibilities in this matter with the highest level of sensitivity.
